How Latina-Owned Businesses will Change the World

Businesses in America are becoming more inclusive and equitable (as they should!).  According to the U.S. Small Business Administration, roughly 1 in 10 workers, or 12 million people, in the United States are self-employed business owners. Yet only 7 percent of Latinos own businesses.

The Latinx market is changing the landscape of our economy and is one of the fastest-growing segments of U.S. small businesses. This is allowing the economy to grow in exciting ways. The influence of Latina businesses continues to grow, making it easier to find and purchase products or do business with a Latina-owned company.

There are things we can all do to help support our Latina-owned businesses.

What You Can Do

There are many ways you can help a Latina-owned business grow and flourish. Here are just a couple of suggestions:

  • Patronize these businesses – If you are out shopping or browsing the internet, why not stop and look around a Latina-owned business? There are items that you may not have known you need.
  • Leave a review – Leaving a positive review is one of the easiest ways to let others know about your positive experience. Whether it’s a shop you visited, a restaurant you indulged at, or a new author you discovered, reviews genuinely do make a difference.
  • Promote on social media – take to social media to tell everyone your experience. Encourage your ‘friends’ and followers to do business with this company.
  • Recommend to your family – word of mouth is still a strong selling point. Tell your friends and family about the new business you found and invite them to show their support as well.
  • Utilize Latina brands for corporate events – when putting together ‘swag bags,’ try using gifts from Latina-owned businesses. We bet you can find some fantastic goodies.

Spending money on Latina-owned businesses helps to redistribute dollars and close the racial wealth gap.
