We all know the saying ‘what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.’ But that doesn’t hold true for Cosmoprof. Besides, I couldn’t keep this year’s trade show a secret even if I tried. Being in the convention center with other big names in the beauty industry was amazing.
But, let me back up a bit. Cosmoprof is the largest B2B (business to business) Beauty Expo in the Americas, and it was held in Las Vegas this year. This event is not open to the public but only for distributors, retailers, and wholesalers looking for the latest trends, styles, fragrances, and products.
This 3-day event had a record-breaking 1,278 exhibitors from 45 countries. Over 36,000 of us in the beauty industry gathered to meet and mingle. The main focus of this event was to establish new contact and connect or reconnect with some top industry professionals.

What I Experienced
I have visited beauty expos as a visitor, but this was my first business-only event, and I loved it! I set up my table with other small business owners and some who were just getting started. The event was sectioned out so that up-and-coming businesses, like myself, didn’t get pushed aside and lost in the shuffle of bigger companies.
Businesses were here to see what trends were about to break, what companies were growing, and what new technology was changing the makeup world. This is the place where deals were cut and connections were made.
I was approached by and spoke with some great people from all industry sections. I discussed my mascara with manufacturers, distributors, wholesalers, and buyers. Not only were these people interested in my product, but they were encouraging and gave me tips. With other conventions, you sometimes compete with each other to sell to the customers browsing the booths, but here, everyone supported one another.
It’s now 3 days after the convention, and I’m still following up with people I met. I introduced myself and my mascara to more people than I ever have in 1 day, and all of them were helpful and supportive. Many people were happy to compliment Hasta La Luna and my Volumizer Mascara. I even received some great tips on how to grow my company best.
Distributers happily warned me that one day my business will explode, and it will feel like it happened overnight.

I’m not new to the beauty industry, and Fresame is my business and passion. I have been in business for several years. And I’m still growing.

This is it, everyone; things are happening fast! I’m now taking a new role: boss. It includes hiring employees, cutting payroll, paying store rent… and all the other aspects of owning a business.
I’m excited about the future. I have plans for new mascaras and new products.
